From Safety to Danger I — Open Edition
A fragile fetal form stands exposed within a world of shifting colours and ruptured membranes. This work captures the moment innocence is pushed from protection into peril — a visual metaphor for vulnerability in a world that fails to keep its smallest lives safe.
From Safety to Danger I —
From Safety to Danger I is a haunting, delicate portrayal of the moment when a life meant to be protected is suddenly thrust into uncertainty. On the right side of the composition, a fetal figure — rendered in translucent layers of reds, greens, and soft anatomical traces — appears to stand or step forward, as though emerging prematurely into a world not ready to receive it. Its small form glows with inner colour, a fragile constellation of veins, organs, and early existence.
Surrounding it is a vast expanse of soft, cloud-like abstraction: pale washes of rose, ivory, and muted coral that echo the protective warmth of the womb. Yet these layers are fractured by deep red fissures running through the composition — ruptures that break the boundary between safety and threat. These cracks evoke the breaking of membranes, the shattering of sanctuary, or the intrusion of violence into what should have remained untouched.
The fetus faces these ruptures, not with fear, but with a strange, almost instinctive acknowledgement — as if sensing the danger before understanding it. Its colours pulse against the muted background, suggesting both vulnerability and the stubborn will to survive.
Presented as an Open Edition, this work retains every translucent detail, tender layer, and symbolic fracture with archival clarity. From Safety to Danger I invites the viewer to reflect on the fragile line between protection and exposure — and on the countless unborn lives shaped by forces far beyond their control.
